AS 0520 DC Latching Solenoid

What is a DC magnetic latching Solenoid valve ?

A magnetic latching solenoid is equipped with a permanent magnet inside the housing that keeps the plunger in position magnetically when under no other force. With the internal permanent magnet maintaining attachment, only consuming power to reinstate attraction. The other push and pull linear movement is the same of the other DC power Solenoid.

The latching solenoid valves are divided into two types: single latching solenoid and double latching solenoid. It is easy to understand that the single latching solenoid only holds (self-locks) the iron core at one position at the end of the stroke. The double latching solenoid adopts a double coil structure, which can hold (self-lock) the iron core at two different positions at the beginning and the end, and the two positions have the same output torque.

    Latching Solenoid Construction
The Latching Solenoid included a permanent magnets built in at housing,  The most common construction is based on an open-frame construction solenoid, with cutaway sections, and with the magnet blocks to fit and hold the permanent magnets.

The latching solenoid valves are always equipped with a permanent magnets in the housing , when making the new one, pls consider that below point,
    1. when power off, The pull force of latching solenoid
    2. The direction of electric current
    3. The holding force of magnet ,The magnetic holding force is the force of the magnet that maintains the position of the plunger in contact with the fixed iron core when no other force is applied.
    4. The return load and electric power must be taken into consideration.

The Advantages of a Latching Solenoid
The key advantages of a latching solenoid compares with the traditional solenoids as below:

Energy efficiency: Latching solenoid power only apply during state changes, making it suitable for battery-powered and energy-sensitive applications.
Reliability: The mechanical of latching solenoid ensures that the plunger remains in the design previous position even in the event of a power loss or system failure.
Compact design: A latching solenoids has the features of small and compact design, making them ideal for a variety of applications where space is limited.
Custom the project: a Latching solenoids can be tailored to meet the specific needs of various applications, including variations in voltage, force, stroke, and mounting options.

The normal Applications of Latching Solenoids
Latching solenoids are being widely applied in a wide range of industries and applications, including:
Automotive: Latching solenoids are used in various automotive systems, such as door locks, seat-belt and fuel injector control.
Aerospace: In aerospace applications, latching solenoids can be found in satellite antenna positioning systems, aircraft landing gear, and valve control systems.
Medical Devices: Latching solenoids are employed in medical equipment such as ventilators, infusion pumps, and surgical instruments for precise control and minimal power consumption.
Security Systems: Latching solenoids are applied in access control systems, including door locks, electronic safes, and security gates, providing reliable and energy-efficient operation.
Industrial Automation: Latching solenoids are applied in various industrial automation systems for tasks like valve actuation, robotic grippers, and conveyor control.
