AS 0628 DC 24V 45 Degree Rotary Actuator For So...
Rotary Actuator Definition and basic principle
The rotating actuator is an electromagnetic device that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy to achieve rotational motion. It is mainly composed of a solemnized coil, an iron core, an armature and a rotating shaft. When the solenoid coil is energized, a magnetic field is generated, causing the armature to rotate around the rotating shaft under the action electromagnetic force. In sorting machine, the rotating actuator can drive the corresponding mechanical parts to perform sorting actions according to the signal sent by the control system.

Part 1: What is a rotary solenoid actuator ?
The rotary solenoid actuator is similar to the motor, but the difference between is that the motor is can rotate 360 degree in one direction, while the rotating rotary solenoid actuator cannot rotate 360 degree but can rotate to a fixed angle. After the power is off, it is reset by its own spring, which is considered to complete an action. It can rotate within a fixed angle, so it is also called a rotating solenoid actuator or an angle solenoid. As for the rotation direction, it can be made into two types: clockwise and counterclockwise for the project need.
Part 2: The structure of rotary solenoid
The working principle of the rotating solenoid is based on the principle of electromagnetic attraction. It adopts an inclined surface structure. When the power is turned on, the inclined surface is used to make it rotate at an angle and output torque without axial displacement. When the solenoid coil is energized, the iron core and the armature are magnetized and become two magnets with opposite polarities, and electromagnetic attraction is generated between them. When the attraction is greater than the reaction force of the spring, the armature begins to move toward the iron core. When the current of solenoid coil is less than a certain value or the power supply is interrupted, the electromagnetic attraction is less than the reaction force of the spring, and the armature will return to the original position under the action of the reaction force.
Part 3: Working principle
When the solenoid coil is energized, the core and the armature are magnetized and become two magnets with opposite polarities, and electromagnetic attraction is generated between them. When the attraction is greater than the reaction force of the spring, the armature begins to move toward the core. When the current in the solenoid coil is less than a certain value or the power supply is interrupted, the electromagnetic attraction is less than the reaction force of the spring, and the armature will return to the original position. The rotating electromagnet is an electrical appliance that uses the electromagnetic attraction generated by the current-carrying core coil to manipulate the mechanical device to complete the expected action. It is an electromagnetic element that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. There is no axial displacement when rotating after power is turned on, and the rotation angle can reach 90. It can also be customized to 15°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 75°, 90° or other degrees, etc., using CNC-processed spiral surfaces to make it smooth and unstuck without axial displacement when rotating. The working principle of the rotating electromagnet is based on the principle of electromagnetic attraction. It adopts an inclined surface structure.
AS 3919 Innovative Applications of Bistable Rot...
About the bistable rotary solenoid ?
The Bistable Rotary Solenoid is protected by a solid carbon steel housing. The insulation class is IP50; an increase to IP65 is possible using additional housing. The nominal voltage is 12, 18 or 24 Volt; the torque is 1 Ncm to 1 Nm. The end positions are fixed with holding torque of up to 1 Nm. Depending on the application, a rotation angle of up to 180° can be realized. Hall sensors can be used as an option to check whether the magnet has reached the start or end position.
Working Principle
The bistable rotary solenoids are extremely fast switching rotating magnets for the optimum performance of demanding sorting and actuating tasks. With a speed of less than 10 ms, letters, banknotes or parcels can be sorted extremely fast and in the correct position. The high rotational speed is achieved by reversing the polarity of the rotary solenoid. The safe end position is realized by a permanent magnet. The so called "Polarised Rotary Solenoids" (PDM) are used in automation and logistcs as a cost-saving alternative to pneumatics or motor solutions due to their energy efficiency.

What is Bi-Stable Rotary Solenoid ?
Bi-stable Rotary solenoid features clockwise and counterclockwise rotation every time the rotation direction is changed between +(positive) and –(negative). After power off, the Bistable rotary solenoid stays back to its position by using the holding force of the permanent magnet. Unlike the other kind rotary solenoids that use a spring for the motion of one direction, bi-stable solenoid rotate in both directions powered by magnetic force and current pulse.

Unit Size: 39*32*16 mm
Principle of Rotary Solenoid:
Rotary solenoids are devices that produce a uniform magnetic field when an electrical current is applied to the Solenoid. They consist of a coil of copper wire, wrapped around a metal core. The metal core is mounted in the center of a disc. This has grooves on its underside to match up with slots in the body of the solenoid, and ball bearings to enable easier movement. These transducers have a higher starting force (torque) than linear solenoids, and are more resistant to shock. Actuators that are mounted on the opposite ends of a shaft or plunger provide a ratcheting action and advance or reverse position.

What are Rotary Solenoids used for?
Rotary solenoids were originally developed for use in defense in the past decade, but nowadays are often found in industrial machinery such as lasers and shutters, banking counting machine as they're more robust than other types of solenoids.
Typically, rotary solenoids are used where space is limited and when long life is required (e.g., laser shutters). Their energized rotation (direction) is characterized as either clockwise or counterclockwise when viewed from the armature flange end. Most products have a spring return to bring the armature back to the home position when power is removed.

What is DC Solenoid Tubular Type ?
DC solenoids tubular type can custom the DC voltages between 3-24V and force up from 5 to 50N. The push and pull force can be significantly increased with limited energized time and with connection to big and high voltage. The DC solenoids tubular type is set up with a return spring inside, and are available in various construction types such as open, tubular, self-holding latching bistable and holding magnet designs. All DC solenoids tubular are available in mechanical pull L or push S designs and can be customized per specification. Common customizations like voltage , copper coil, plunger housing are mechanical as well as cable connections and cabling.

How is the tubular solenoid work?
The tubular solenoid adopts the round tube structure design. The working principle is the same as the frame type solenoid, which makes straight linear motion. Because the housing t is made of round iron pipes, there is no need to open a mold for stamping. It only needs to be processed by CNC machine, and can be processed into different sizes and styles according to based requirement.
Due to the tubular structure design, the tubular force is maximized. It is an electromagnet with a saturated magnetic circuit. Most of the electromagnetism is converted into magnetic energy, and it has the characteristics of high power and long lifespan. The round tube electromagnet has a unique design, is more stable in performance, more reliable in operation, and easier for installation.
In addition, the round tubular housing shell provides good protection and anti-corrosion for the internal electromagnetic part, making it very suitable for use in conditions with small spaces and harsh environments.

Principe of Rotary Solenoid
A rotary solenoid is a device that created a rotary motion in response when an electrical current on. It consists of a copper coil, a stator, and a rotor. The copper coil generates a magnetic field when an electrical current is powered on. This magnetic field interacts with the stator and the rotor, causing the rotor to rotate around its axis.
