What is metal stamping Die Maintenance and why is it important?
Part 1 : Metal stamping Die maintenance
The maintenance is an important part for an stamping die manufacturing operation. This maintenance process not only includes the simple repairs and cleaning, but also detailed inspections for the wear part that will help to maintain the life of the metal stamping die in good condition. Maintenance also ensures that the metal stamping dies are continuing to produce metal parts that meet to the product design, consistently and reliably specification.
Part 2 : The step of Common die maintenance operations
2.1 Mold inspection
Daily inspection: Check whether there are any abnormal conditions such as cracks, deformation, damage, etc. on the mold surface. Check whether the cooling system is working properly, including cooling pipes, joints, valves and other parts.
Weekly inspection: Perform a comprehensive inspection of the mold, including key parts such as guide mechanism, positioning device, demoulding mechanism, etc. Check whether the mold closing height is correct and whether the mold gap is adjusted reasonably.
Monthly inspection: Perform a functional inspection of the mold to test whether the mold's pressing, guiding, positioning and other functions are normal. At the same time, check whether the die spare parts and wearing parts need to be replaced.
2.2. Mold cleaning
Daily cleaning: Blow away dust and residues on the mold surface with dry compressed air. Clean the cooling system to remove sediment and dirt.
Weekly cleaning: Deeply clean the mold surface and wipe it with a soft cloth to avoid scratching the mold surface with sharp tools. Clean the cooling system to ensure that the pipeline is unobstructed.
Monthly cleaning: Deeply clean the inside of the mold, including the cavity, core, slider and other parts. Use appropriate cleaning agents to remove sediment and dirt to prevent corrosion and mildew.
3.3. Mold lubrication
Daily lubrication: Lubricate the sliding and rotating parts of the mold, such as guide pins, guide sleeves, sliders, etc. Use appropriate lubricants to maintain the lubrication and stability of these parts.
Weekly lubrication: Deeply lubricate the key parts of the mold, such as the cavity, core, etc. Use professional mold lubricants to ensure that the mold operates stably at high speed and high pressure.
Monthly lubrication: Lubricate the entire mold, check the consumption of lubricants, and replenish lubricants in time. Maintain and clean the lubrication system to ensure the normal operation of the lubrication system.
2.4. Die maintenance and repair
Maintain and repair the mold according to actual needs. For example, repair worn cavities, cores, etc.; replace damaged positioning parts, fasteners, etc.; adjust and correct the mold to ensure its normal operation. During the maintenance and repair process, ensure the correct use and replacement of tools and parts to avoid improper operation that causes mold damage or reduces its performance.
2.5. Record and summarize
Record each maintenance and maintenance work, including maintenance time, work content, replaced parts and other detailed information. Summarize and analyze the maintenance records regularly, find out the deficiencies and problems in the maintenance and maintenance process, put forward improvement measures and opinions, and continuously improve and optimize the maintenance content table.
Through the implementation of the above maintenance content table, the service life of the hardware mold can be extended, and the production efficiency and quality can be improved. At the same time, it can also reduce production costs and unnecessary downtime. Therefore, it is recommended that each manufacturing enterprise should establish a set of hardware mold maintenance content tables suitable for itself, and strictly implement them in accordance with the requirements to ensure the smooth and efficient production process of the enterprise.
Part 3 : Why is metal stamping die maintenance important to you?
Regular die maintenance ensures that the equipment consistently produces parts that conform to your design standards. Without cleaning and sharpening, your parts may not meet the tolerances required, or their dimensions may not be consistently accurate. Regular and attentive maintenance also improves production and overall part quality as well.
Overall, metal stamping die maintenance is a vital part of any metal stamping shop, ensuring the quality and usability of stamped metal parts for any industry. At our Stamping workshop, routine die maintenance is included in the part price. We do not charge extra to maintain a customer’s die. Should a die require work to extend its life or be revised, our Stamping can quote that work and usually complete it in house.
